AMAG AP1 clad TopBright

Highly bright Aluminium for Spatial and Façade Design

Some of the most powerful architectural design elements include light, surface, and atmosphere. The AMAG AP1 clad TopBright allows architects to utilise specially developed aluminium to intentionally showcase these very elements. The material has a uniform glossy finish without being overly reflective; meaning it is able to respond to both light and shadow, creating natural ambiance with a high-quality appearance both inside and out. This unique effect continues to exist after anodizing, making AMAG AP1 clad TopBright the ideal foundation for a variety of anodizing processes carried out by specialised partners, allowing for premium long-lasting façade and interior designs.

Along with the distinctive aesthetics of our aluminium surfaces, we utilise our state-of-the-art technology and rich expertise. This includes a special rolling process that creates a unique structure which produces the signature glossy look. In doing so, we are able to combine high-purity alloy with mechanical properties and the overall stability of the base material, seamlessly blending aesthetics and technicality. Finally, our intentionally developed bright-rolling mill, which is the largest of its kind globally, allows for the refinement of surfaces up to 1500 mm wide, offering architects complete freedom in the design process.

Project Description: In the transformation of the Egyptian Museum in Turin, renowned architects OMA and Andrea Tabocchini harness the subtle power of aluminium reflections to revitalize this historic landmark. The material’s lustrous surface diffuses natural light throughout the space, placing ancient artifacts in a refined contemporary setting while drawing visitors’ attention to the museum’s Baroque architecture. The aluminium panels serve a dual function: they elegantly conceal the technical infrastructure along the walls, while their reflective qualities animate the space. Thus, capturing both the timeless beauty of the statues and the dynamic movement of visitors as they journey through the space.

Project Description: The new R11 main building at Fontys University of Applied Sciences in Eindhoven was designed to foster a seamless connection between the university and the city. On the campus side, expansive glass façades embody transparency, an architectural expression of openness and communication. Facing the adjacent residential area, R11 adopts a more composed visual, with elegant and glossy aluminium panels. These reflective surfaces create a subtle interplay between the building’s interior and its surroundings, capturing light, movement, and perspective. The result is an architectural design that not only connects spaces but also becomes a stage for meaningful dialogue and interaction between the university and the community.

Project Description: Shifting with perspective, time of day, and season, the angled reflective aluminium panels transform constantly, appearing at times glassy and translucent, and at others, vividly metallic. This ever-changing façade distinguishes the hotel from its surrounding buildings, giving it a distinct uniqueness and recognisable identity. The façade’s subtle checkerboard structure not only enhances visual rhythm but also contributes to thermal regulation, efficiently guiding natural light into the interior workspaces while maintaining comfort and effective energy performance.
